Diagnostic Alcohol/Drug Evaluations
Evaluations last approximately one and a half to two hours and consist of an interview and questionnaire portion. This comprehensive psychosocial assessment is designed to determine if a client has a substance abuse problem and if so, to what extent. Based on information provided by the client, collaterals and assessment tools, an assessment is made regarding the client's level of impairment related to their alcohol/drug use. All cases are reviewed at the agency's multi-disciplinary assessment team where recommendations are reviewed and approved by the team in conjunction with our consulting psychiatrist.
- DUI/Multiple Offender Treatment
Genesis Counseling Services is currently licensed to provide both the First Offender Drunk Driving Program and Second Offender Aftercare in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We comply with all state regulations and will provide first offender and second offender documentation as requested for the Registry of Motor Vehicles. We also work with clients who have lost their license for drug related charges. In addition, we have worked with many clients with out-of-state DUI charges who needed help in meeting treatment goals in order to have their license reinstated.
- Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is usually accessed by clients who have acheived a significant period of sobriety, or who feel they need additional support beyond their group treatment in order to maintain stability. Length of treatment is determined by need and the American Society of Addiction Medicine treatment protocol is used to help identify treatment goals. Care is taken to assign a client to a clinician appropriate to their needs and personality.
- Group Therapy
Group treatment is considered the treatment of choice for substance abuse clients. All groups are limited to a group size of ten and led by a trained group facilitator who holds special skills in the field of substance abuse. Length of treatment is individualized for the client and determined via American Society of Addiction Medicine treatment protocol. Over the course of their treatment clients are provided with a wide range of educational information with which to assess their usage and develop recovery skills. They also learn from their peers as they give and receive feedback that enables them to learn how to make healthier life choices.
Genesis provides a variety of drug free groups to our clients including: men's, women's, adolescent boys, adolescent girls, and Spanish groups.
